
Mechanical Systems
The Mechanical Systems Pathway provides learning opportunities for students interested in preparing for careers in mechanical construction (plumbing, electrical, welding, heating, ventilation, air conditioning [HVAC]). The pathway includes instruction in the manner in which these systems work in structures.
Finish 2 years in the Mechanical Systems pathway to earn special honors and be recognized during your senior year as a Program Completer!

and get ready to enter a career in the industry.
Year 1: Introduction to Building and Construction Trades
Discover the different careers available in the Building and Construction Trades.
Learn to read and draw plans
Develop your skills with hands-on projects.
Completing this class will allow students to enter the Intermediate Mechanical Systems class OR the Intermediate Residential and Commercial Construction class!
Year 2: Intermediate Mechanical Systems
Students are taught appropriate tool and jobsite safety practices with OSHA certification modules.
The pathway teaches Fabrication and Manufacturing, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), Electrical, and Plumbing.
Students learn MIG, TIG, and ARC welding as well as torch cutting, foundry work, milling and the use of CNC equipment like the Plasma cutter.
Year 3: Advanced Mechanical Systems
Students demonstrate proficiency of lessons learned in the Intermediate class, including safety procedures, fabrication skills, and teamwork.
They will have an opportunity to display industry knowledge through custom hands-on building projects.
Students will participate in Field trips such as Trades Day and participate in competitions like the CA State Fair.
Demonstrating mastery of skills prepares students for a Class C California License and EPA certification as well as immediate access to high paying careers in the industry.
