Learn to frame houses, install roofing, electrical, doors, windows and get prepared to enter a rewarding career!

Year 1: Introduction to Building and Construction Trades

  • Discover the different careers available in the Building and Construction Trades.

  • Learn to read and draw plans.

  • Develop your skills with hands-on projects.

  • Completing this class will allow students to enter the Intermediate Residential and Commercial Construction class OR the Intermediate Mechanical Systems class!

Year 2: Intermediate Residential and Comercial Construction

  • Students are taught appropriate tool and jobsite safe practices with OSHA certification modules.

  • Learn to create material lists, cut lists, and layouts for projects.

  • Develop carpentry skills required for construction jobs.

  • Become familiar with framing, installing interior/exterior finishes, building walls and partitions, installing roof systems, doors and windows, as well as electrical wiring and plumbing.

Year 3: Advanced Residential and Comercial Construction

  • Students demonstrate proficiency of lessons learned in the Intermediate class, including safety procedures, carpentry skills, and teamwork.

  • They will have an opportunity to display industry knowledge through hands-on building projects and by participating in competitions such as Design Build.

  • Demonstrating mastery of skills can allow for direct entry into the NorCal Carpenters Training program and high paying careers in the trades.
